In this course, we look at practical ways to enrich the English Primary curriculum so that learners develop empathy, respect for diversity and imagination and to recognise their place in local, national and global communities. We will examine how to use a wide range of multi cultural picture, story and poetry books, multi media resources, drama and role play, and non-fiction sources to achieve literacy objectives for speaking and listening, reading, writing and media literacy. We will also consider how a Global Citizenship approach expands learners’ thinking and horizons and develops critical literacy, leading to higher levels of attainment.
