Aims of the course:

This 2-day course gives further tutoring in the practice and theory of developing communities of philosophical enquiry (P4C).

Expected outcomes of the course:

For participants to be: • more skilled in the facilitation of enquiries, • better able to evaluate and plan for the progress of communities of enquiries • able to coach colleagues in their practice of P4C.

Embedding global learning in your teaching:

This course will enable teachers to better use philosophical enquiry to help educate for global citizenship in a pluralist society in different curriculum areas.

Course aimed at:

KS2 and KS3

Curriculum subjects explored in this course:

English, Geography, History, Citizenship, PSHE

Content focus:

Curriculum development; Development of specific subject (i.e. Maths, English etc.) or curriculum area; Teaching and learning; Development of whole school ethos; Pupil behaviour and values; School awards (e.g. Fair Trade School, RSSA, ISA etc.)

Trainer details:

Helen Griffin, PGCE, MA in Education, formerly a primary teacher, is a SAPERE-accredited P4C Level 1 and 2 trainer who has been delivering global learning training to teachers in Derbyshire and South Yorkshire for nearly 20 years.
