- To explore The Awra Amba Experience, Dinnertime 360 and Secrets of the Opera. - To review the series of lesson plans, activities, classroom discussions and assessments in the education pack. - To co-create activities based around the themes of the project (teachers in small groups). - Teachers will customise lesson plans and activities for their own classes, and share with the group. - Teachers will use the media libraries to create their own content. - To discuss the agreed procedure of communicating with Awra Amba, so that students and teachers can ask questions and share their work. - To introduce Virtual Reality (VR) and the cheapest and most practical solutions to start using VR in the classroom.
Participants will be empowered to use the interactive learning resource, comprehensive teacher pack and media libraries to deliver numerous lessons to Key Stage 2 and 3 pupils. Teachers will leave the course with customised lesson plans that will be ready-to-deliver, based around the themes explored in the interactive resource, which include: social justice, sustainable development, gender equality, compassion, democracy, entrepreneurship, education, faith & peace, family planning, health, elderly care.
On the course we will explore various classroom activities, designed to get pupils thinking, understanding and discussing ideas. We will also look at how teachers can work with us to collect material from various media, to support and elaborate on the themes and subjects explored in the interactive resource.

Serdar Ferit and Paulina Tervo are film-makers and digital storytellers, with over 10 years teaching experience in England. They have worked in 25 countries, across Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and Europe, and specialise in creating explorable, interactive documentaries and VR films. Katri Meriläinen is a teacher and an education expert, with a keen interest in Finland’s revolutionary new curriculum. She has worked as a teacher and teacher educator in Finland and Eritrea, designed various educational materials, and specialises in ICT in education. Katri led a team of teachers when designing the comprehensive teacher guide for The Awra Amba Experience.
The Awra Amba Experience, which was developed with British and Finnish film makers, teachers and education experts, is an exciting learning resource that comes packaged with a series of lesson plans, teacher guides and rich media libraries (including video clips, photos and infographics) which students can use for content creation. All participants will get a free one-year subscription to the interactive learning resource, lesson plans and media libraries for their school.
