The Global Teacher's Award course supports teachers in developing the skills, confidence and practical approaches to incorporate global learning into the curriculum, in particular providing strategies to stimulate critical thinking about global issues at whole school and pupil level. It will help teachers nurture informed, active global citizenship amongst their pupils and enhance SMSC provision.
Teachers will have increased their ability to critique the knowledge base and key concepts associated with education for a just and sustainable world (global learning). They will have developed skills to challenge perspectives and stereotypes and engage with multiple perspectives and voices. They will explore the values associated with global learning- empathy, tolerance, fairness, respect, diversity and social justice through a range of practical activities, which can be applied in the classroom to support active global learning of pupils. Teachers will have examined various approaches and strategies for embedding and developing global learning across the whole school, to be able to provide coherent global learning experience for pupils and the whole school community.
Understand the links between global education theories and approaches to their own practice and be able to apply these in practical ways in the classroom. Support their pupils to develop depth of global knowledge and global learning skills, enabling them to acquire a wider perspective, new skills and to imagine different futures. It wil enable them to reflect on and have a better understanding of their own role as global practitioners.
